Barfi: More copied scenes found from 'Lover's Concerto' and Adoor Gopalakrishnan's 'Mathilukal'

The shoe throwing scenes to attract the attention of Priyanka Chopra playing an autistic girl Jhilmil was apparently copied from 'Mathilukal' an award-winning Malayalam feature film directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan.

There is a scene in Anurag Basu's 'Barfi' where Ranbir Kapoor, completely smitten with Illeana D'Cruz, tries to brazenly woo her at a cafe in Darjeeling. Illeana, playing Shruti in the film, sits with a friend at the small cafe right across the landmark Keventers restaurant as Ranbir mimes proposing to her, much to the amusement of the two women.
But Illeana, who is engaged to be married, promptly turns him down and Barfi embarks on a way to still win her friendship. He climbs atop the clock tower of the Keventers and turns the clock back 15 minutes to let Illeana overlook his proposal. It was an achingly humorous scene made poignant by the fact that Ranbir plays a hearing and speech impaired person in the film.
Basu is facing plagiarism charges for lifting scenes, themes, sequences and concepts from various sources, including from films of silent era masters Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton.
