No liquor to be sold in Kerala bars before 5 pm, rules High Court

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala High Court has ruled that no liquor will be sold before 5 pm in bars and hotels, in other words make drinking before that time a crime.

The court says that the prohibition of liquor during working hours is necessary as it leads to alcoholism and affects work.
But it has clarified that only the government can take a final decision after conducting a detailed examination of the issue.

The people of Kerala have welcomed it. Some people in the state said they have been wanting this for long and that if distribution is curbed, then consumption will be curbed.
